Method
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to soften.
- Add the ground beef, beaten egg, minced onion, oregano, salt, and pepper to the bowl with the soaked breadcrumbs.
- Use your hands to gently mix all the ingredients together until they are just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.
- Roll the mixture into uniform balls, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the formed meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small space between each one.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the meatballs are browned on the outside and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 160 degrees F (71 degrees C).
- Remove the meatballs from the oven. You can serve them immediately or add them to your favorite sauce.
Notes
If you prefer a slightly crispier exterior, you can broil the meatballs for the last 2 minutes of cooking, watching them closely to prevent burning.
