Ingredients

For the Bread
  • 1 loaf Sourdough bread or other crusty bread, about 1 pound
For the Garlic Butter
  • 1/2 cup Butter melted
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
For the Cheese
  • 1.5 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Shredded cheddar cheese

Equipment

  • Loaf pan
  • Knife
  • Small bowl
  • Basting brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes, but do not cut all the way through the bottom crust. This will keep the loaf intact.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt.
  4. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the bread cubes, making sure to get it into the cuts.
  5. Stuff the mozzarella and cheddar cheese into the cuts between the bread cubes.
  6. Place the bread into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving. Pull the pieces apart to enjoy.

Notes

You can add other cheeses like Monterey Jack or Gruyere. A sprinkle of red pepper flakes can add a little heat.
