Method
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, loosely tent it with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes of baking.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before carefully removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra moisture, you can add 1/4 cup of sour cream or plain yogurt to the wet ingredients.
