Simple Vanilla Sheet Cake

Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk Whole milk recommended
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Melted
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
Simple Vanilla Frosting
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Softened
  • 3 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix with an electric mixer on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  8. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter in a bowl until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and spreadable.
  9. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.

Notes

You can add sprinkles on top of the frosting for decoration if you wish.
