Ingredients

Shrimp
  • 1 lb Large shrimp, peeled and deveined About 21/25 count
Sauce and Seasoning
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice, fresh
  • 1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes Adjust to your preference
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Tongs

Method

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the white wine or broth to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and let it reduce slightly, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the fresh lemon juice and most of the chopped parsley.
  6. Taste the sauce and adjust salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately, garnished with the remaining fresh parsley.

Notes

You can serve this scampi over cooked pasta, rice, or with crusty bread for dipping into the sauce.
