Simple Chicken Fajita Skillet

Ingredients
  

For the Fajitas
  • 1.5 lbs Boneless, skinless chicken breasts Cut into thin strips
  • 1 Large onion Sliced
  • 2 Bell peppers (any color) Sliced
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 packet Fajita seasoning mix Or use 2 tablespoons of homemade mix
  • 1/4 cup Water
For Serving
  • 8 Flour tortillas Warmed
  • 1/2 cup Shredded cheese Optional
  • 1/2 cup Salsa Optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method
 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the same skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender-crisp, about 5 minutes.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables.
  5. Sprinkle the fajita seasoning mix over the chicken and vegetables. Stir to coat everything evenly.
  6. Pour in the water and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  7. Serve the chicken and vegetable mixture immediately with warm tortillas and your choice of toppings like cheese or salsa.

Notes
