Ingredients
  

For the Casserole
  • 1 pound sausage casings removed
  • 1 loaf bread stale or lightly toasted, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
For the Egg Mixture
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Spread the cubed bread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the cooked sausage and shredded cheeses over the bread.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown.
  9. Let the casserole stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
