Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter or your favorite creamy variety
  • 1 cup milk of choice dairy, almond, oat, or soy
  • 1/4–1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt optional for extra protein and creaminess
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup optional, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for a warm, round flavor
  • 1–2 tablespoons rolled oats optional, for extra fiber and thickness
  • 1/2 cup ice optional if using a fresh banana; skip if using frozen
  • 1 Pinch cinnamon or sea salt optional, but highly recommended

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. If using a fresh banana, peel it and break it into chunks. Use a frozen banana for a thicker, colder smoothie.
  2. Pour the milk into your blender first. This helps the blades move easily and stops ingredients from sticking.
  3. Add the banana, peanut butter, Greek yogurt (if using), oats, vanilla, and a small pinch of cinnamon or sea salt. Add the ice last if you are using it.
  4. Blend starting on low speed and increase to high for about 30 to 45 seconds, until the mixture is creamy with no lumps.
  5. Taste the smoothie. Add honey or maple syrup if you want it sweeter. If the texture is too thick, add a little more milk. If it is too thin, add a few ice cubes or more oats and blend again.
  6. Pour the smoothie into a glass and serve immediately. You can sprinkle a little cinnamon on top if you wish.

Notes

This recipe is designed to be flexible. Adjust the amounts of sweetener, oats, or ice to match what you prefer for texture and taste.
