  • 1 bag (13 oz) tortilla chips sturdy, round or triangular
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Optional Toppings
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 jar (16 oz) salsa

  • 1 avocado diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 jalapeno sliced

Equipment

  • Large baking sheet
  • Large bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Spread the tortilla chips evenly on the large baking sheet.
  5. Spoon the seasoned ground beef mixture over the chips.

  7. If using, scatter the rinsed black beans over the cheese.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven. Top with your desired optional toppings such as salsa, sour cream, diced avocado, cilantro, and sliced jalapenos.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier nacho, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the ground beef mixture or use pepper jack cheese.
