Method
- Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 5 to 7 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium. Pour the chicken broth and soy sauce into the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Stir in the brown sugar until it dissolves.
- Whisk the cornstarch and cold water mixture, then slowly pour it into the simmering sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the chicken and cook for 1 to 2 minutes to coat.
- Serve the chicken immediately with the extra sauce from the pan.
