Equipment

  • Bundt pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-cup Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once the cake is completely cool, lightly dust the top and sides with edible gold dust.

Notes

You can add a simple glaze or frosting if desired, but the gold dust provides a beautiful finish on its own.
