Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 4 people
Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Skillet
  • 1 lb Ground beef 80/20 recommended
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 3 cups Cabbage shredded
  • 1 tsp Dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Heat the large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spatula, until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the shredded cabbage, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage begins to wilt slightly.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender to your liking.
  4. Remove the lid and cook for another 2 minutes if there is too much liquid remaining. Serve hot.

Notes

You can add a splash of soy sauce with the broth for extra flavor. For a richer taste, brown the beef well before adding other ingredients.
