Crack Breakfast Casserole

This breakfast casserole is simple to prepare and yields a satisfying result. It combines sausage, cheese, and eggs in a baked dish.

Ingredients
  

Casserole Base
  • 1 pound Ground sausage Cooked and drained
  • 1 package Refrigerated crescent roll dough 8 count
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
Egg Mixture
  • 12 Large eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Large skillet

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Press the crescent roll dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, sealing the seams if necessary.
  3. Sprinkle the cooked and drained sausage evenly over the dough layer.
  4. Top the sausage with the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, dry mustard powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage and cheese layers.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is lightly golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes before cutting and serving.

Notes

You can prepare this casserole the night before. Assemble all ingredients except the egg mixture, cover, and refrigerate. In the morning, pour the egg mixture over the top and bake as directed, adding about 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the refrigerator.
