Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 1 box Cake mix (any flavor) Prepare according to package directions
For the Frosting Upgrade
  • 1 cup Butter Softened
  • 1/2 cup Milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar
Optional Garnishes
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate chips Melted, for drizzling
  • 2 tablespoons Sprinkles
  • 1/4 cup Fresh berries For topping

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Baking pan
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and bake as directed.
  2. Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. While the cake cools, make the upgraded frosting. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  4. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk or cream, beating until smooth and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides.
  6. Decorate your cake with your chosen garnishes. Drizzle with melted chocolate, add sprinkles, or top with fresh berries for a beautiful finish.
