Ingredients

For the Roast
  • 3 lb Beef tenderloin roast center cut
For the Garlic Herb Butter
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh rosemary chopped
  • 2 tbsp Fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper freshly ground

Equipment

  • Roasting pan
  • Small bowl
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, chopped thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  3. Pat the beef tenderloin dry with paper towels. Spread the garlic herb butter evenly over the top and sides of the roast.
  4. Place the roast in a roasting pan.
  5. Roast for 40-50 minutes, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
  6. Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  7. Slice and serve.

Notes

For a more even cook, you can tie the tenderloin with butcher's twine. Adjust cooking time based on your desired level of doneness.
