- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and stir for an additional minute.
- Stir in ground beef, breaking it up. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Add canned tomatoes, sugar, salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, half of mozzarella, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper until smooth.
- In a baking dish, spread meat sauce on the bottom, layer noodles, cheese mixture, and repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with remaining mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
