Ingredients
  

For the Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb lean ground beef a great source of protein
  • 1 medium onion, chopped adds sweetness and depth

  • 28 oz canned whole tomatoes provides a rich base

For the Cheese Mixture

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese for gooey topping

  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles (no-boil) ensures perfect texture

  • 2 tbsp olive oil for sautéing onions and garlic

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and stir for an additional minute.
  4. Stir in ground beef, breaking it up. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Add canned tomatoes, sugar, salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta, half of mozzarella, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper until smooth.
  7. In a baking dish, spread meat sauce on the bottom, layer noodles, cheese mixture, and repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with remaining mozzarella.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
