Ingredients

For the Fries
  • 4 Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes medium size
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika or garlic powder optional

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Large bowl
  • Kitchen Towel

Method

  1. Cut potatoes into ¼-inch sticks. Soak the sticks in cold water for 30 minutes to remove starch, which helps them crisp up.
  2. Pat the potato sticks completely dry using a kitchen towel. Moisture prevents the fries from getting crispy.
  3. Place the dry potatoes in a bowl. Toss them with the oil, salt, and any optional spices until they are evenly coated.
  4. Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overlap. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 12 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time.
  5. Continue cooking for another 3 to 5 minutes until the fries are golden brown. If you want extra crispness, you can broil them for 1 to 2 minutes at the end.

Notes

Keeping the skins on the potatoes provides extra fiber, potassium, and vitamin C. These fries reheat well, making them suitable for meal preparation.
