- Cut potatoes into ¼-inch sticks. Soak the sticks in cold water for 30 minutes to remove starch, which helps them crisp up.
- Pat the potato sticks completely dry using a kitchen towel. Moisture prevents the fries from getting crispy.
- Place the dry potatoes in a bowl. Toss them with the oil, salt, and any optional spices until they are evenly coated.
- Place the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overlap. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 12 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time.
- Continue cooking for another 3 to 5 minutes until the fries are golden brown. If you want extra crispness, you can broil them for 1 to 2 minutes at the end.
