Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup water
- Taco shells
- Taco toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream)
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the water and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the ground beef mixture in taco shells with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
