Description

Make delicious ground beef tacos at home that taste like they came from your favorite restaurant.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Taco shells
  • Taco toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream)

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the water and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve the ground beef mixture in taco shells with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
