- 3 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Place the beef chuck roast in your crockpot.
- In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the liquid mixture over the beef in the crockpot.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender.
- If you want a thicker sauce, remove the beef from the crockpot and set aside. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Stir this mixture into the liquid in the crockpot.
- Cook on high for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Return the beef to the crockpot and shred or slice it.
- Serve the beef with the garlic butter sauce.
Notes
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or with crusty bread.
- You can add vegetables like carrots or potatoes to the crockpot during the last 2-3 hours of cooking.
