Description

A simple and flavorful crockpot recipe for tender beef with garlic and butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in your crockpot.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, melted butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture over the beef in the crockpot.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender.
  5. If you want a thicker sauce, remove the beef from the crockpot and set aside. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Stir this mixture into the liquid in the crockpot.
  6. Cook on high for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  7. Return the beef to the crockpot and shred or slice it.
  8. Serve the beef with the garlic butter sauce.

Notes

  • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or with crusty bread.
  • You can add vegetables like carrots or potatoes to the crockpot during the last 2-3 hours of cooking.
