Description
A lighter take on a Halloween classic, these mummy dogs use whole-wheat crescent rolls for a healthier twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated whole-wheat crescent rolls
- 8 (all-beef) hot dogs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Mustard or ketchup, for decorating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Cut each triangle into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
- Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips to resemble a mummy, leaving a small gap for the face.
- Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, and onion powder. Brush this mixture over the mummy dogs.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Once cooled slightly, use mustard or ketchup to create eyes on the mummy dogs.
Notes
- For crispier mummy dogs, bake for a few extra minutes.
- You can use regular crescent rolls if whole-wheat are unavailable.
- Adjust the amount of spice mix to your preference.
