Description

A quick and easy turkey bolognese sauce perfect for a weeknight meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Cooked pasta, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. For a richer flavor, simmer longer.
  5. Serve the turkey bolognese sauce over your favorite cooked pasta.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, let it simmer uncovered for the last 5-10 minutes.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
