Description
A quick and easy turkey bolognese sauce perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Cooked pasta, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. For a richer flavor, simmer longer.
- Serve the turkey bolognese sauce over your favorite cooked pasta.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, let it simmer uncovered for the last 5-10 minutes.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
