- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Parmesan cheese, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside.
- Pour red wine into the skillet and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes.
- Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, and basil. Return meatballs to the skillet.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through.
Notes
- Serve with pasta or crusty bread.
- For extra tenderness, do not overmix the meatball mixture.
