Description
A spooky and delicious appetizer perfect for Halloween parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 large eggs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 12 black olives, pitted and halved
- 12 small strips of red bell pepper
Instructions
- Boil eggs: Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.
- Peel and halve eggs: Once cool, peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl.
- Mash yolks: Mash the egg yolks with a fork until smooth.
- Add seasonings: Stir in mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and white vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Fill egg whites: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
- Create spiders: Place an olive half on top of each deviled egg to form the spider’s body. Use the red bell pepper strips to create legs, tucking them under the olive.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a smoother filling, you can press the mashed yolks through a sieve.
- Experiment with different olive types for varied spider appearances.
- Add a pinch of paprika for color and flavor.
