Description

Tender, flavorful beef roasted slowly with Asian-inspired seasonings.


Ingredients

  • 3 lb beef chuck roast
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and black pepper.
  3. Place the beef chuck roast in a Dutch oven or oven-safe pot.
  4. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the beef.
  5. Add the beef broth to the pot.
  6. Cover the pot tightly with a lid.
  7. Roast in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender.
  8. Remove the beef from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  9. Shred or slice the beef.
  10. Serve the beef with the cooking liquid, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • You can serve this beef over rice or noodles.
  • For a thicker sauce, remove the beef and simmer the cooking liquid on the stovetop until reduced.
