Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add cooked pasta and basil to the skillet. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a sauce.
  5. Serve immediately.
