Ingredients

- 1 pound pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.
- While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add cooked pasta and basil to the skillet. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a sauce.
- Serve immediately.

- Top with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
