- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the pecans, if using.
- Spread the sliced apples evenly in a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- You can add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the apples to prevent browning and add a touch of tartness.
- Feel free to add other spices like ginger or cardamom to the crumble topping.
