Description
Crispy fried mozzarella bites served with a side of marinara sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella sticks into 1-inch pieces.
- Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper.
- Dredge each mozzarella piece in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Place breaded mozzarella on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the mozzarella bites in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra crispy bites, double-coat the mozzarella in the breadcrumbs.
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to prevent the mozzarella from melting too quickly.
