Description

Sautéed mushrooms with bacon and onions, a hearty side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving drippings in the skillet.
  2. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms and butter to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are browned and tender, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, cooked bacon, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cook for 2 minutes more to combine flavors.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use beef broth instead of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
