Slow-cooked beef brisket with a rich, caramelized flavor, perfect for sandwiches or meals.

- 3–4 lb beef brisket
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Season the brisket with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned.
- Remove brisket from the pot and set aside.
- Add sliced onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and smoked paprika. Stir to combine.
- Return the brisket to the pot, ensuring it is partially submerged in the liquid.
- Cover the Dutch oven and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 4-5 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
- Remove the brisket from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Shred the brisket using two forks.
- Return the shredded beef to the pot with the sauce and toss to coat.
Notes
- For extra caramelization, you can broil the shredded beef for a few minutes before serving.
- Adjust sweetness and spice to your preference by altering the amount of brown sugar and smoked paprika.
