This Black Pepper Chicken recipe brings together tender chicken, crisp veggies, and a rich, peppery sauce for a meal that’s both comforting and clean. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for busy weeknights or meal prepping.

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast or thigh (cubed)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 2 tsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 1-inch ginger (grated)

  • ½ onion (sliced)

  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)

  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)

  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth

  • 1 tbsp oil (avocado or olive oil)

  • Optional: scallions, sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix chicken cubes with cornstarch, soy sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

  • Sear the Chicken: Heat oil in a wok or skillet. Sear marinated chicken until golden and just cooked. Remove and set aside.

  • Sauté the Aromatics: In the same pan, sauté garlic, ginger, onions, and bell peppers for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

  • Build the Sauce: Return chicken to the pan. Add oyster sauce, remaining black pepper, and chicken broth. Simmer until sauce thickens.

 

  • Finish & Serve: Drizzle sesame oil, toss to coat, and serve hot over rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice. Garnish with scallions or sesame seeds
